About Us

The Institute of Engineering in Medicine (IEM) at UC San Diego was established as an Organized Research Unit in July 2008. IEM now has 14 centers and over 300 faculty members from the School of Medicine, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Longevity Science, the Jacobs School of Engineering, and other campus divisions and neighboring research institutes, who all share the goal of translating groundbreaking science into new technologies and therapies that will transform patient care and improve the health and well-being. On behalf of the Institute and all the centers, I would like to thank everyone for their dedication to these goals.
