Peter Mage: Breaking The Wall Of Guesswork In Medicine at Falling Walls Lab Berlin 2015

December 09, 2015

"Competing in the Falling Walls Lab at UC San Diego was a great chance to hear about some of the excellent research being done across Southern California. It was an honor to win the San Diego competition and a privilege to go to Berlin and compete in the Falling Walls Lab Finals. Meeting young researchers from every corner of the globe and hearing about their research was an amazing experience, and it was exciting to share my work with them. My talk was scheduled first out of 100 presenters, so it was fun to kick things off for the competition! The topics ranged from clean energy innovations to new tools for neonatal care, as well as a number of exciting initiatives for promoting environmental and economic health in developing regions around the world. All the Falling Walls Lab finalists got to attend the full Falling Walls conference the next day, hearing and meeting world leaders in science and policy. I made what I’m sure will be lifelong connections with the other Falling Walls competitors and am truly grateful for the opportunity to meet such incredible people from all over the world." -Peter Mage
